My Thoughts-Manny matos

"ENGAGE" 2011
COMMUNICATION. There is a direct pathway to God’s heart when we worship. I don’t have the doctrinal or theological reasoning behind this phenomenon but I can feel it. When a group of people get together in unity and sing songs of love, declaration, repentance, and admiration to GOD, all I can picture is God smiling. God could have reserved music for heaven but was AWESOME enough to give us a tease!
About two months ago me and a couple leaders from our college campus ministry had an idea. We felt that we needed to unite all the churches in the Hutchinson County area in Texas and have a community worship night. When the idea came up we were all excited and left it at that. I remember the next day thinking about how all of this was going to get done. if it was going to happen I had the responsibility to get the ball rolling. I’ll admit, putting an event like this together scared me. Thoughts of calling it off before it got too big crossed my mind multiple times.. I felt like I wasnt going to have the time, people, or resources to pull this off…then I realized what i was doing. Somehow in my mind I thought that it was up to me to do this instead of trusting God to handle this and provide the people, equipment, and place to have this event. Pretty silly considering He is the reason for this gathering…
He did it! He came through! Gathered a speaker, an amazing team of leaders, musicians, light guy(s), sound crew, all of it!! Again I was reminded of how faithful my LORD is :). The night was nothing short of AWESOME. God brought the people that needed to be there. We WORSHIPED, hearts were healed, chains broken, and lives saved. His NAME was lifted up and EXALTED that night! God continues to amaze me, and Im loving it!

Next Chapter..

This weekend is the last series of my sophomore baseball season. On route to Big Spring, Tx to play Howard College I had a lot of things on my mind. Will I play baseball again? Dallas? Tennessee? Miami? and more…

Summer is right around the corner and I’ll be heading back home to Miami. All I can think about is how blessed I feel to be in Borger, Tx the last couple years. I’ve been able to make some great relationships with some amazing people. I will not miss the “panhandle” (cold, dry, dusty, windy) weather but I will miss the people from this town. I’ve grown so much living away from home, and even though this chapter of my life comes to an end with some unanswered questions, it brings me to one continuos, faithful reality…..God is in control. I feel like I will be entering a new exciting chapter in life. God’s grace and favor in my life still blows me away every morning. Im not sure where I’m going or what I’m doing exactly, but I am sure of this…I am ready to be used by God..
